Collated complete. This work contains four pages of publisher's advertisements.Written by H. Rider Haggard, this captivating novel takes place on a rural farm in South Africa and recounts the romantic entanglements of its protagonist, Jess. Sir Henry Rider Haggard was a British writer specialising in romantic adventure novels often set in exotic settings, predominantly Africa, and is considered the father of the 'lost world' literary genre. In original blue cloth binding with gilt titling on front board and spine. Small closed tear to back free end paper, approximately 1 inch. Externally, very smart with minor bumping to spine head and tail and corners. Internally firmly bound and pages bright and clean with the odd, light spot on fore edge. Very Good
