About This Item

Boston: Little, Brown, 1867. First Edition. While the title page notes it as “Part Second,” this is a single volume work, a continuation (or sequel) to 1865’s Pioneers of France in the New World. BAL 15455. Publisher’s cloth; very minor cloth wear; a fine copy. With the ownership signature of writer Henry James on the first blank. The “Brahmins” of Boston in the 19th century were, for the most part, a close circle of acquaintances and associates. Among the more prominent of those were the Parkman and James families.
