There are a few period inscriptions in ink in the margins, relating to moves, positions and executions. 272pp. plus a table of contents page and four pages of errata to rear. The table of contents appears to show that the sections entitled L'Art Polonois, Poeme Didactique, Lettre d'Envoi and Preface du Poeme should be at the rear of the book, however they are bound at the beginning of the book. This scarce book was published by M.Manoury in 1787 and is a revised and enlarged edition of his book entitled "Essai sur le Jeu de Dames a la Polonoise" published in 1770. Manoury ran the eponymous cafe located at Quai de l'Ecole, close to the Louvre. It was a meeting place for Parisian draughts players, and leading personalities of the time including Rousseau and Danton played there..
