The Australian National University, Canberra, 1981. Reprint. Softcover. Very Good Condition. Signed by Author. Introduction by author, notes and the aforementioned appendices of which there are 13. Plain yellow paperback covers with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A monograph of Jewish settlers in Australia – there were at least six Jewish convicts in the first Fleet, one, John Harris, who upon his release became Australia's first policeman. The book then goes into the increasing numbers of Jews arriving in Australia throughout the 19th and early twentieth centuries; then to the World War II influx of displaced persons who survived the Holocaust. A little rubbing of the book edges and sunning of the back strip. A small stain to the back strip and very light age toning of the both the text block edges and pages.
