About This Item
[North East, Maryland. Likely 1870s-1880s]. Broadside. 17 x 8 inches. Folds, as issued. Stains at left edge; soil to verso and some old creases; good.
An ephemeral price list illustrated with nine engravings that advertise razor strops made by North East, Maryland company. An 1878 Maryland directory noted the firm had removed from Philadelphia to North East and could "produce and ship to all points of the country immense quantities of patent razor strops, spectacle and eyeglass cases." Illustrated 19th century American broadsides devoted to barbering -whether for self-care at home or in a barbershop- are scarce, especially of any notable size. One example located in the Jay T. Last Collection.
