About This Item

This copy is still in its publisher supplied shrink wrap, a new, unused copy. Published by the High Museum of Art in association with Hudson Hills. 12" X 9", dust jacket intact, 191 pages, with 48 color plates and 75 black and white illustrations. Published to accompany the exhibit held in Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia. Lisa N. Peters is a art historian with the Pratt Institute, author of several titles on American painters of the 19th century. This title includes many examples of this master of American impressionism, as well as an examination of the life of the artist. Considering the weight and size of this volume, there will need to be an additional postage charge added to the standard one listed here for international orders.

John Henry Twatchman (1853 – 1902) was an American painter best known for his Impressionist landscape paintings, though his painting style varied widely through his career. Art historians consider Twachtman's work to be among the more personal and experimental of his generation. He was a member of "The Ten", a loosely allied group of American artists, whose members included Childe Hassam, Edmund Tarbell, Frank Benson, and Robert Reid. 'The Ten' were dissatisfied with professional art organizations of the time and banded together in 1898 to exhibit their works as a stylistically unified group

As this is an unopened copy, there is little wear to report. This is not a remainder copy, not a library discard. No writing, no marks on the book. As is the case with all of our listings, the attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory, not stock photos. A very sturdy, heavy book, which will be mailed out in a sturdy box.
