Dark blue cloth has remains of library spine label, gilt to spine, small white mark on front cover, moderate normal wear to corners/edges. Interior has normal library marks including pocket, interior otherwise clean and nice. John Jewel was a leading figure in the early Elizabethan Church of England. Bishop of the diocese of Salisbury (1559-71), he is best known as the apologist of the Elizabethan settlement of religion. This study concentratees on Jewel as apologist and controversialist; therefore it is neither a full biography nor a thorough study of his theology, although of necessity it is some of both. Centres on the beginnings of Anglicanism. ; Church Historical Society; Ex-Library; 256 pages .
