About This Item

Johnson's England: An Account of the Life & Manners of his Age, Volumes I and II, Edited by A. S. Turberville Hardback, 1933, first edition, illustrated, published by Clarendon Press Oxford, xxiii + 405 pages and 404 pages respectively.

Quarto/4to, measures around 9 1/4" by 6 1/4" by 1 1/2". Books and dust jackets in excellent condition for age. Dust jackets very clean, only slight marking and wear, apart from spines which are discoloured, scuffed and have a little wear at head and tail areas, plus a very small tear at rear top of volume I jacket. Jackets appear to have been price-clipped. Blue cloth binding, blind-stamped/embossed front boards, gilt lettering to spines. Very clean, hardly any wear, colouring vivid. Bindings firm. Page edges deckled at lower and fore-edges, a little scuffed but very clean. Some offsetting to endpapers but page surfaces very clean, no inscriptions, underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
