Engraved title in compartments representing the history of creation by Simon van de Passe, head-pieces, initials and tail-pieces, text enclosed in borders. Index and errata for the first and second week at end. The English translation of Simon Goulart's Commentaires et annotations sur la semaine de la création du monde de G. de Saluste, sieur du Bartas. Title page edges and fore edges of eleven leaves skillfully repaired. Sporadic foxing, an occasional spot and minor soiling, previous owner's name in ink on title. A very good copy. ; Folio.

For this edition the great American artist Allan Rohan Crite was inspired to produce fifteen relief engravings for possibly the ultimate illustrated edition of the book of Revelations. Revelations passionately speak against the power of evil and encourage Christians to resist even at the cost of martyrdom. Many critics considers this to be Crite's finest religious work. One of 50 copies with an extra suite of the lithographs on Grand Velin de Rives. This is number 83 of a limited edition of 200 copies hand signed by Leonor Fini and Andre du Bouchet on the limitation page. All lithographs protected by tissue guards. The clamshell box is in very good condition with a few vague stains, The contents are in mint condition. Sheets measure 40 x 30 cm. .

A rare 16th-century printing of works of John Chrysostom. Chrysostom was one of the most important Early Christian Church authors and preachers and is most remembered for his sermons and homilies. He preached on many different subjects, but his most frequented topic was helping the needy. Chrysostom calls for followers of Jesus to set aside their material desires to help the poor, often in a way that shamed the rich and guilted them in to giving.

The 'Roman de la Rose' is a famous 13th-century Medieval French poem written as an allegorical dream sequence. It was written by Guillaume de Lorris who sought to express the feelings of romantic love, sexuality, and chivalry. It was completed by Jean de Meung who continued the work begun by Lorris. Thought to be the most widely read book other than the Bible in the 13th- and 14th-centuries, it was highly influential on other authors, notably including Geoffrey Chaucer.
