About This Item

Sydney: Australian Documents Library in association with the Library of Australian History., 1981. First edition. Quarto. Publisher's original brown cloth with titles in gilt to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with eight black and white plates and three facsimiles of manuscripts. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a very slight hint of cracking to the front hinge and a small bump to the foot of the lower board. The contents remain in very good order throughout. The dustwrapper with some marking to the rear panel and the odd minor nick the extremities is otherwise also very good. A reproduction of the jounral and letters of Ralph Clark, a member of the First Fleet, the fleet of eleven ships which brought the first British colonists and convicts to Australia.
