This being number 179 of 500, signed at the Army and Navy Club, London at the book launch 2nd December 1989. There is a hand-written note on the front paste-down which reads, 'Charlotte/An insider's view of Sandhurst,/where Uncle Hugo won his spurs,/the author, an old Fettesian,/is a relation of Neville Salvesen,/who was one of my close friends at/Fettes, and Simon Cooper - the General/who writes the Foreword is married/to Juliet (formerly Palmer) who was/a dance partner of your father's many/years ago and a daughter of one of/Gigi's closest wartime friends - Cicely/Somerset./Love from Papa'. D/w has a couple of short edge tears (longest 24mm); else a near fine copy, in a very good plus d/w, of a SCARCE first limited edition SIGNED BY AUTHOR FRANCIS SALVESEN. D/w now protected in a detachable, non-adhesive, clear sheaf.. Signed by Author, Francis Salvesen. First Edition, First Printing. Hardback. Near Fine/Very Good Plus.
