Edinburgh: Archibald Constable & Co, 1817. French man Louis Simond (1767-1831). This is noted for its very early illus done by the Author of the Welsh and the Scottish poor. CONDITION Vol 1 only. Ex University Library with only spine marking and filing details to verso of title page. Half Leather with Papered bds, Pp xiv 508 with 2 fold out tables, 5 full page portraits, and 5 wood block illus through text and a map. Spine is cracked and needs rebacking but holding, Name in Copper plate script (Pax.) at title page and same to head of p 21, different name pasted in at front free end page with is inserted (not attached), old archival repair to bottom cnr of torn page at p71/72. Mostly bright copy with odd spot internally, engraved plates show toning due to differing paper type. Overweight. 2nd Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
