In 1998 and motion picture was made of the book written by Tony Morrison called " Beloved ". One of the stars of the film was Oprah Winfrey and this is her recounting of first reading the book and of the actual making of the movie. As she says in her introduction " My original intention in making Lovett was the same as Tony Morrison's intention in writing the book: I wanted people to be able to feel deeply on a very personal level what it meant to be a slave, what slavery did to a people, and also to be liberated by that knowledge.
