Light rubbing and shelfwear, light fraying to head of spine, rubbing and bumping to corners. Shelved case 8. Bleiler 2228. Also issued in a pictorial red cloth, priority unknown. The First French Edition, 'Voyage au Centre de la Terre,' was published in Paris in 1864. This is the unauthorized second American edition, intended as a cheaper version to compete with Scribner's edition. 1377742. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
Synopsis
Journey to the Centre of the Earth, also translated as A Journey to the Interior of the Earth, is a classic 1864 science fiction novel by Jules Verne. The story involves a German professor (Otto Lidenbrock in the original French, Professor Von Hardwigg in the most common English translation) who believes there are volcanic tubes going toward the center of the Earth.
