The book starts with a conversation between Eugene Ionesco and Verena Heyden-Rumsch in paris in 1987, which has been translated by Barbara Wright. Ionesco has been quoted as saying about this and other plays and writings, " My sole concern is the constant attempt to split apart the veil of appearances." In this play, which is a journey to the extremities of death, has the veil of appearances not been completely split? have we not arrived on the other side- the side of truth, asks Heyden-Rumsch." No we are caught up in that split..." states Ionesco. A wonderful and fascinating look at a modern almost abstract master of modern literature. A Rare and collectible copy signed by Ionesco.
