This edition was published after the death of the original author, Irma S. Rombauer, and bears a heartfelt dedication from her daughter and co-author, Marion Rombauer Becker. Irma Rombauer, a Saint Louis homemaker, first privately published "The Joy" in the aftermath of her husband's suicide. That first issuance was printed by the A.C. Clayton Printing Co., who had never previously produced a book, but rather labels for shoe manufacturers. Since then, the book has sold over 18,000,000 copies. --- With illustrations by Ginnie Hofmann and Beverly Warner. In turquoise cloth-covered boards with cover & spine titling in dark blue. Two red satin placemarkers sewn into binding. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A generally well-preserved copy, but with soiling to textblock fore-edge and on at least one leaf; and with chafing to rear cover corner.
