Hamburg: Rowohlt Verlag. Very Good+ in Good dust jacket. Hardcover. A compact German-language edition of Honoré de Balzac's story, featuring the rather out-of-control Philippe Bridau. Part of a larger series of the works of Balzac. Titled "Un Ménage de Garçon" in French. Rendered into German from the French by Franz Hessel; printed in Roman typeface. --- An undated, compact copy, measuring 3.5 in. wide x 6 in. tall. In full blue cloth-covered boards with titling and decorations in gilt to spine and on red spine block; sewn-in red satin ribbon bookmark. Printed on very thin leaves, with faint pale yellow staining to textblock edges. Volume in tan jacket with engraved image of a young gentleman to cover. --- An excellent copy: clean, tightly-bound and bright. Rather fragile jacket with some tears but mostly intact; now in new removable archival mylar protector. ; 24mo - 5 to 6 in. tall; 390 pages .
