The text is illustrated black-and-white photography light blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The memoirs of the leader of the 8th US Army, from his landing in Buna, Papua New Guinea, through the entire Pacific campaign till Tokyo was reached. Inserted loosely in to the book are two contemporary photographs, one taken by Signal Core U.S. Army – commemorating the author congratulating and presenting the Silver Star to Senior Sergeant Raybron Blank for bravery in action against the Japanese in Papua New Guinea, 1943; and the other a photograph of disembarking American soldiers – probably in Papua New Guinea – with a stamp stating for immediate release – 1944 – please see photographs. Softening and rubbing of the backstrip edges, rubbing of the top book corners and lower book edges. Age toning and foxing of the textblock edges; with age toning of the pages. Offset tanning and foxing of the end pages with original bookseller's sticker to the lower left-hand corner of the free front end page. The lower 2 inches of the front hinge has cracked. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and lower backstrip edge. The top 3 inches of the top edge of the dustwrapper is somewhat there – please see photograph. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges with numerous small tears to the top edge of the rear panel. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [4], 5- -287, [1] pages.
