Shehab was the son of an Emir from Palestine/Lebanon. He served in WWII with US forces (Battle of the Bulge) and in volunteered for the Free French resistance. He later was served in a number of positions in the Middle East in the 1950s-1960s. (Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and numerous other awards and medals, former President of the National Association of Arab Americans.)
