Frontis picture with tissue guard of burned Free State Hotel in Lawrence. No DJ. Brown cloth embossed boards with tarnished gilt lettering on spine. 366 pp 12mo. Written by the wife of the founder of Lawrence Kansas and the first governor of Kansas in 1861. The book covers the founding days of the State of Kansas as the battle raged over being a slave or a free state. She was an eyewitness to the violence in Bleeding Kansas the formation of the first government. A clean presentable copy.
