SIGNED on the front cover by Karel Appel, who has also drawn a bird on the cover. Rare catalogue of a solo exhibition at Galerie Nova Spectra in Den Haag (The Hague), from May 2-31, 1981. Issued in celebration of Appel's 60th birthday, the catalogue deals mostly with Appel's "monumental" works. Introduction by Jan Nieuwenhuizen Segaar, the gallery director, and an essay by Elisabeth Reinhart-Tergau. Also includes a chronological listing of Appel's "monumental" works along with a few black-and-white photos. Text entirely in Dutch.
Provenance: Collection Gert-Jan Hemmink, Amstelveen (a major collector of Cobra works); Collection Will Hoogstraate (1917-2008), director of the Galerie d'Eendt in Amsterdam.
This catalogue is rare, with OCLC showing only six institutional holdings, mostly in the Netherlands. None in commerce.
CONDITION: Modest soiling to wrappers, a couple of light pencil marks to one of the pages. Very Good or better.
