Dark green boards, foil titles on spine, xiv, 176 pp, 16 ff b & w photo plates, 3 maps, index. Slight shelf wear. DJ is covered with adhesive plastic, has a small edge tear to top edge, rear panel is wrinkled near head of spine. McKinlay was 25 when he joined the Arctic expedition led by Vilhjalmar Stefansson. McKinlay's ship, the Karluk, was soon trapped in pack ice. Eleven of the twenty-five on board eventually perished, and McKinlay barely escaped with his life. After remaining silent about these events for over 60 years, McKinlay wrote this account of survival on the ice and on Wrangel Island. Shipping weight 2 lbs.. BCE. .
