About This Item
Gale Cengage, 2002. First Edition. Hardcover. Like New/Fine. 8x1x10. The story of unsung heroes who have struggled against great odds to sculpt hostile land into natural preserves with streams, ponds, trees, and grass. Strong characters who bonded together and created a new profession and a professional organization. Labbance wrote seventeen books on golf, served as the golf editor for âThe Valley News,â was a managing editor at âTurf Magazine,â edited six northeastern state golf magazines for many years, wrote a series of greenkeeping histories for âSuperintendent Magazine,â and played a crucial role in researching and editing âThe Architects of Golf,â by Geoffrey Cornish. Gord Witteveenâs career was dedicated to the world of turfgrass as a superintendent, historian, author and mentor to the next generations of greenkeepers. A graduate of the Ontario Agricultural College, founding director of the Canadian Superintendents Association and the GreenMaster magazine, Witteveen was a dominant presence in the Canadian golf landscape for over four decades.
