First edition, first printing with full number line on copyright page. Light foxing to outer edge of text block, some foxing to endpapers. In the publisher's dust jacket, near fine condition, with $22.50 on front flap, bright colors and illustrations. Signed by President Jimmy Carter: "To Billy & Sybil Carter. Jimmy." An exceptional association copy. "For me, Rosalynn, our children, and my mother, the four years I spent as President were for the most part an exciting and rewarding time. The only one of our family who really suffered because of the experience was my brother Billy." - Keeping Faith, Jimmy Carter. Billy Carter (1937-1988) was the younger brother of President Jimmy Carter. He was a charismatic media personality during Carter's Administration, but he ran into trouble when he visited Libya in 1978. His visit led to congressional inquiries, which were eventually settled, and no charges were pursued. Billy Carter died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 51. He is survived by his wife, and high school sweetheart, Sybil Spires, who resides in Plains, GA.
