Octavo, xiv, [2], 622pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine. Full number line on copyright page. A fine example, appears unread. In the publisher's matching slipcase. Includes paperwork from the Tony Gwynn Milestone Collection estate sale, number GV589551. This copy is inscribed on the front endpaper: "To my friend, Tony Gwynn - Jimmy Carter." President Jimmy Carter was a good friend of Padres owner John Moores, where he frequently attended games and met with the Padres great Tony Gwynn. Known as "Mr. Padre," Tony Gwynn played 20 seasons in the major league, where he was a 15-time All-Star and first ballot Hall of Fame inductee. Gwynn died at the age of 54 due to cancer.
