London: Macmillan & Co, 1924. Portrait frontispiece of Morris engraved by Emery Walker from a photograph by Sparling, 16 plates. 8vo., original linen backed, blue holland paper covered boards, printed paper label. A very good copy with only a small stain to spine, slight rubbing to spine label and very fading to edges.||Henry Halliday Sparling was the son-in-law of William Morris between 1890 and 1898 when his marriage to May Morris ended over her affair with George Bernard Shaw. He was an editor and journalist and an active member of the Hammersmith Socialist League.
The book is a good survey of the method of working at the Kelmscott Press, its aims and achievements. Included is Morris’s Note on His Aims, a description of the Press and a list of book printed at the Press by Sydney Cockerell and details of ephemera printed there.|
