About This Item
Hannover: H. Osterwald. Near Fine. N.D.. First Edition. Softcover (Saddle-stapled). Uhlemeyer (1900-1954) was a German potter and entrepreneur who founded the pottery shop Kunsthandwerk in Hannover. This is an example of his scarce sales catalog circa late 1930s, printed in Germany but presumably for English-speaking countries, with an order form laid in (a few pencil notations on the form). Uhlemeyer presents flower and decorative vases, and primitive but posed animal sculptures. The introduction translates: "The illustrations of this catalog show a selection of my ceramics, which are manufactured in reduction technique. These are high quality majolica, which are available in gray reduction glazes, black turquoise or turquoise red reduction glazes"... Light toning and spine stress.; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 20 pages .
