Kewanee & Galva Railway Co. minute book

Springfield, IL: Not published, 1924. Unique book of minutes of meetings of the short-lived Kewanee & Galva Railway, formed as a re-organization of the interurban Galesburg and Kewanee Electric Railroad, which collapsed in 1923. The new K&G continued operations until 1932, when an appeal for funds to the Illinois Commerce Commission went unanswered. Contains only 9 pages of typescript, including the corporate by-laws, list of share subscribers (B.F. Lyons, C.E. Davis, Albert Schlipf, L.M. Irving, S.J. Bowles), first meeting of subscribers (February 28th, 1924), meeting of the Board of Directors - same as the subscribers - (March 1st, 1924). This book seems to have been retired early, possibly because of a typo on its cover - there it is titled "KEWANEE & GOLVA RAILWAY CO.", or it may have been a superfluous duplicate that was never updated after the first meeting. In addition to the 9 written pages, contains blank pages numbered 11-400. The book, though unmarked as such, comes from the estate of B. F. Lyons, a Chicago electric utility executive; he was also the main shareholder, with 6 shares to one share each for the others. Large book bound in full red leather, a 'Durabul Record and Minute Book', with a no-doubt patented mechanism for adding, removing & shifting pages; about 9¼" by 11½", 2" thick. Very good; light wear, minor interior rust to binder mechanism.. First Edition. Full Leather. Very Good. 9¼" by 11½".
