Some 60 years later this humble parish priest achieved a world-wide posthumous fame through the publication of his diary. The three volumes of Kilvert?s Diary, edited by William Plomer and published by Jonathan Cape, appeared in 1938-40 to give an unique picture of life in Victorian Times. They have been reprinted on numerous occasions and an eighteen-episode series of extracts have been filmed by BBC Television. These were subsequently shown on Irish TV.
