London: Printed for R. Bentley and M. Magnes, in Russel-Street in Covent-Garden. Very Good+. 1680. First Edition. Hardcover. Bound by Riviere & Sons in greenish brown levant with brown spine, 5 spine bands & gilt lettering. Wide ornamental gilt frames over plain endpapers. All edges gilt. Margins trimmed not affecting text. Hinges & text tight & intact. Leaves clean without foxing. Uniform light toning. [8], 65, [2] pages, with prologue leaf bound at end. A few scuff marks along spine. The work was written by John Dryden in 1677 & first performed on 11 March 1678. 'The Kind Keeper' closed after only three performances. Dryden later removed 'objectionable material' from his original satire of aristocratic sexual behavior before submitting the manuscript for publication: thus the date of 1680. Theater, Drama. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 65 pages .
