London: Eveleigh Nash & Grayson, [1925]. 205pp, [1]. With a photographic portrait frontispiece. Original publisher's gilt-tooled purple cloth. Without dustwrapper. Lightly rubbed and bumped, loss and chipping to head of sunned spine. Inked inscription to foot of frontispiece: 'To His Royal Highness the Prince Arthur of Connaught from his most devoted Paola Ostheim Saxony Weimar'. The first edition of a selection of letters written by King KonstantÃnos I of the Hellenes to Paola, Princess of Saxe-Weimar during the years 1912 to 1923. This copy was presented by the former wife of Prince Hermann of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (later styled Count Ostheim) (1886-1964), Italian stage actress Wanda Paola Lottero (d. 1963), to governor-general of South Africa and grandson of Queen Victoria, Prince Arthur of Connaught (1883-1938). Following her divorce from Prince Hermann in 1911, Wanda gained notoriety for her short-lived affair with King KonstantÃnos I. . First edition. 8vo.
