Jesse Carey served as a missionary in Fiji from 1859-75 The poem is a history of some 130 years of Fijian history, from the first appearance of whites, interspersed with myth, manners and customs of the people, with words of wisdom from their sages. The hero is Fiji's great king Seru or Thakombau (Cacabou). Front end paper has been clipped, removing most of it o/w a nice tight, square copy. Scarce
