About This Item

Arthur H. Clark Company. Very Good-. 1919. First Edition. Hardcover. Two volumes. These volumes are bound in dark blue cloth. To the spines there is imprinted in gilt the title, volume I or II, Bolton's name, Semicentennial Publications, and University of California 1868-1918. To the front of each is the circular, "Seal of The University of Calfornia, 1868" in gilt. The sheets are from the original Arthur H. Clark printing from 1919. Large folding map at the rear of volume II. Interestingly in the list of Illustrations this map is shown as being on page 233. There is in fact no leaf of 233/234. There is no text missing and no evidence of this leaf ever being present. The text is entirely complete. Also, the frontispiece of each volume is identical showing, "A Present-Day View of The Mission San Xavier Del Bac". This matches the list of illustrations in Volume II but does not for Volume I. The frontispiece for Volume I is listed as being the Earliest Print of Kino's Map. This has been replaced by the "Mission" mentioned. A minor ex-library copy with numbers stamped at the lower spine. There is also very mild evidence of something being removed from the front free endpaper of each volume. Very clean text and quite tight. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 379, 329 pages .
