Orig. gilt-pictorial cloth. Very minor rubbing to spine ends, else a near fine copy. Laid in is a single sheet "Desciption of Plates to accompany 'The Knightly Soldier.'" "Composed in the main of letters and diary excerpts, this is a straightforward, unprejudiced narrative of service in North Carolina and Virginia; subject was killed in action late in 1864" Nevins I, p. 170.
