Hand bound by the artist with exposed stab binding. Signed and numbered on the colophon of each volume by the artist. Jana Sim, colophon: "The beauty of Korea's traditional doors, windows and its patterns are presented in this work in the form of a book, inspired by my father, an intangible cultural heritage in Korea. The diverse traditional patterns each have different meanings to them and this art piece is a selected collection of those good fortune made into one book. "In Korea, there is no distinction in the traditional door and window, only its purpose and that is expressed in the two sets of the book. The vertical binding book represent Korea's traditional doors whereas the horizontal binding book represent windows. The patterns are displayed in two forms, for a complete and a closer detailed view." This two volume set is dedicated to Sim's father who is a master carpenter. "The Korean times" featured an article about Sim Yong-sik as well as mentioning the relationship between father and daughter https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2023/11/719_214931.html.

Bound in purple silk cloth with tipped on illustration. Linda J. Docherty, Catalog of the Exhibition, Catalog of the Exhibition: Threatened and Endangered: Artists' Books Created by Rebecca Goodale, 2004: "Because human encroachment on nature more often takes place incrementally, the damage may be done before the consequences are clear. Goodale's Northern Blazing Star anticipates a future in which species survival depends on artificial recreation of natural patterns. This star book focuses on Maine's last grassland, the Kennebunk Plains, home to the grasshopper sparrow, upland sandpiper, black racer, and Northern blazing star. The latter, a rare plant pollinated by yellow butterflies, depends on fire to preserve the character of its habitat. North Bay, Canada:: Transformer Press,, 2002.. Edition of 10. 10 x 7.5" with eight spreads. Accordion book with handmade paper pages and hard covers. The text is rubber-stamped and the images colour-copied. There are five very simple pop-ups. Tall tales and (possibly) true stories told to Lise Melhorn-Boe as a child are combined to create a fairy-tale version of her father's immigration to Canada, presented as a quest for food. The pages get more colourful and dimensional as the story progresses. Lise Melhorn Boe: "My father grew up during World War I in Germany, the third youngest of nine. So he remembered not having enough to eat. He was a good storyteller, so I've just put together a number of his tales. The photos are all really of him and his family. It was very hand that my grandfather actually was a poor shoemaker with many children, considering that I was trying to make it like a fairy tale. When I was away from home at university My father would always ask… Read More

Wilson compares attorneys, defendants, judges, and people in other key roles to theatrical players, wearing predetermined costumes and participating in staged dialogue. "The heads-bodies-legs mix and match structure of the book allows readers to create new combinations. Doing so, they redefine the fifteen characters and create absurd, contradictory messages. Living in the Unites States, the Korean traditional door was the link with my childhood reminiscence and with my family back home in South Korea. Austin: Texas Writers Project, 2000. Original . Broadside. FINE. 24 x 36 inches, printed on high quality coated stock with metalic ink. Shipped- rolled in heavy tube. This fabulous poster was created especially for the featured author of Texas Writers Month in 2000 held in Austin, Texas by graphic designer Marc English. It is printed on heavy high quality coated stock in metalic inks: silver and bronze and laid over a duotone photograph of the rugged Big Bend country of West Texas. The poster quotes a long scene from McCarthy's BLOOD MERIDIAN with drops of bronze red blood for emphasis. This is a stunning visual and carries the impact of the original text depicting a scene of horror as the savages line up on horseback along the ridge their glass beads and painted bodies caught forever in the sun's hot glare as they anticipate the massacre that would follow. Only McCarthy could make this scene so vivid you might have to put the book down and never finish it.
