Paris : J. Hetzel, 1869. Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6". None. A nineteenth century work on the Academy of Sciences and Academicians of 1666-1793. The author, Joseph Bertrand (March 11, 1822 April 5, 1900, born and died in Paris) was a French mathematician who worked in the fields of number theory, differential geometry, probability theory, economics and thermodynamics. In a cloth binding with marbled paper covered boards, and gilt title detailing to the spine. Externally, sound with light rubbing in places; with bumping and a little loss to the extremities. The hinges are little strained. Internally, firmly bound with the pages generally bright and clean; with scattered spotting, age toning to the endpapers, and a personal ink copperplate inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good
