Covers moderately worn, especially at top and bottom edges of front board, endpapers and flyleaves browned, inoffensive dampstain at top of last 50 or so leaves, text else quite clean.. Original brown cloth stamped in gilt and blind, octavo, (xvi), 474 pp. + advertisement leaf at rear. Wood-engraved illustrations in the text. Publishers printed advert for "The Watchman" tipped opposite title page. Binder's title is "Mrs. Hale's New Cook Book;" which title was published in 1857 with the same text as "The Ladies' New Book of Cookery." Bitting p. 209; Cagle #312; Lowenstein #555.
