Original black cloth worn with small nick to cloth center rear panel, rubbed on points with some loss tail of spine and 1" chip head of spine. Gutter webbing visible but still tightly bound. Internally toned with some handwritten notes front endpapers. Fold-out map has 3" closed tear repaired with cellophane tape reverse side, does not impact Lake County portion of map. Early Lake County, Indiana history based on various sources including an 1836 Claim Register found in Kankakee City, Robinson's Records (lecture given in the Old Log Court House), Diary of Judge Ball of Cedar Lake, author's own diary and personal recollections, diary and weather record of Rev. H. Wason, etc. Includes local cemeteries, Squatters Union, list of Civil War veterans, biographical sketches of early settlers, much more.
