New York & London: New York & London: Harper & Brothers, 1935. 36th edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 6 X 8 in. high. 345 pages. G-K on copyright page (July 1935), stated 36th edition. Association copy, this was from the library of Albert Bigelow Paine, and signed by the author of this book, Caroline Miller, on title page, with inscription "For Albert Bigelow Paine, The worth of a book lies in its reader's heart - to one of my first readers, and the most important one- Caroline Miller Waycross, Georgia December 15, 1935-". The reference to "the most important" reader relates to the fact that Paine was on the Pulitzer committee which awarded Miller the prize for this, her first published novel. Condition of book is VERY GOOD; Spine slightly faded, gilt lettering on spine & cover dull and hard to read, ffep slightly yellowed from 1934 Herald Tribune article about the book, which is loose, not laid-in (yellowed),top edge of text block a little dusty, otherwise a very clean, tight copy. Interesting Pulitzer association. Rare RGR
