London: John Murray, 1885. Book. Good. Cloth. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Dark green cloth with titles in gilt on cover and spine. Condition: Good, clean and sound. Spine and corners bumped, covers lightly scuffed, a couple of small white splashes to spine. Previous owners bookplate inside front cover and a neat ink annotation on the blank page facing the preface. Some occasional neat small notes in ink in the marginsn461pp. 141 illustrations. A well-written book on the role of landscape in art through the ages, from Egyptian and Greek through to Mediaeval times and the Renaissance ending with Claude Lorraine, Salvator Rosa and Gaspar Poussin and their influence on Turner. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
