Large VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS GREETING CARD - Three Embellished Chromolithograph Scenes with Silk Fringe mounted on Padded Silk with stiff card backing

Very Good. 1880s. Cards. A wonderful large Christmas/New Year Victorian greeting in very nice condition -- no rips or tears, lovely. Three Embellished Chromolithograph Scenes (7" x 5") with Silk Fringe mounted on Padded Silk background (10.75" X 9" ) with stiff card backing and angle piece for standing upright on table/mantle. The three chromolithograph scenes are after landscape paintings by Albert Edward Bowers (active 1875 - 1893), known for his detailed paintings of the English countryside - cottages, cattle, farms, sheep and human figures in landscape. Two of the scenes are dos-a-dos with white silk fringe framing the cards; that pair are hinged at the top and flip up to reveal the third scene mounted on the patterned pink silk padded background which is itself framed at the outer edge by silk fringe. Each of the scenes has a layer of white "glitter" enhancing the snowy areas. The card brace at rear that allows it to stand has some archival tape reinforcing the hinge. The first scene is title Winter at Burnham Beeches and has the greeting: "May blessings surround your home." The second is The Woodman's Return with the greeting: "Accept best wishes for the New Year." The third is A Sussex Farmhouse with the greeting "With loveing Christmas Greetings." .
