Description: Originally published in 1940, this edition is from the Famous Dog Stories series, and is not illustrated; the only date given is the original copyright; this circa 1950s. This began as a well received short story about a dog's love for a boy and a family, a story which grew into a beloved book -- perhaps one of the best dog stories of all time -- and inspired the film with Roddy McDowall and Elizabeth Taylor.
