Quarto. 416 pp. The story of lithography began nearly two hundred years ago, when its inventor Aloys Senefelder found that he could print words and images from a chemically treated stone. This technique had become popular as a means of artistic exspression. and used by several artist. This book provides the gernal reader, as well as the collector and scholar, with an unmderstanding of the background, the processes and the potential of lithography and with the use of 364 illustraitions including 48 in color. Bound in broiwn paper covered baords, spine lettering gilt. A handsome copy, near fine in a good decorative dust jacket with a few spots of the jacket coating scratched.
