About This Item

London: Michael Joseph Ltd, 1945. First British Edition. First British edition. 148 pp. Bound in publisher's yellow cloth with crimson lettering. Near Fine with a little dust-soiling and mustiness, in a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with a sunned spine panel, a few white paint streaks to back panel. An attractive copy.

A novel composed of sketches of family life, some first published in prominent magazines such as The New Yorker and Harper's Bazaar. The author was a Filipino immigrant whose postcolonial novel America is in the Heart and article "Freedom from Want" (accompanying the famous Norman Rockwell illustration for Saturday Evening Post) earned him brief renown during WWII.
