About This Item

Stockton, CA: Native Daughters of the Golden West, 1916. 27, (2) p., wraps, 3.75x6 inches; "Joined April 25, 1922" penned at top of front cover. Rules of the social organization, with list of members and the dates they joined. Members had access to a sick fund that paid out benefits, a system apparently ripe for exploitation as a large proportion of the booklet is devoted to rules about the legitimacy of ailments (anything due to immoral behavior or any disease the member was hiding at the time of joining forfeits the benefit).
