Original pebbled full bound brown cloth boards, with gilt lettering to front. 282 pages. Binding solid and square; clean inside and out. Assorted scuff marks and small spots of discoloration to front and rear boards; approximately two inches of wear along rear outer edge, showing board beneath. Light spot on front board with partial fabric loss, affecting the "FF" in "OFFICERS" in the title. US Federal Government publication, detailing all laws and regulations pertaining to the office of customs in all US ports, as of 1877. A surprisingly scarce title, with only three copies appearing in WorldCat at the time of listing. From the Secretary, Treasury Department: "The subjoined compilation of laws, Department regulations, and decisions, relating to the duties of inspectors, weighers, gaugers, and other officers, who, by law, are under the superintendence and direction of surveyors of customs, is published for their information and guidance...
