INSCRIBED to the painter Jack Freeman by the author on the first interior page. One of an unknown but presumably microscopic number of copies of the self-published first edition of this pocket-sized poetic collection by a key figure in San Francisco's North Beach from the Beat era until his death a few years after this was issued. Just about as new (minor marks on cover appear to be printing artifact).

Rare mid-seventies issue of the classic San Francisco underground Beat magazine, includes a great range of luminaries (including one poem by Dale Pendell). A curious 1976 leaflet entitled The Grant Getter's Gazette by Michael Weiner is laid in. Unmarked copy with a bit of reading wear (front cover has some printing offset, as observed with other copies).

Rare first issue of this important little magazine featuring a stellar roster of contributors, including Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray as well as Beat notables including Burroughs (Schottlaender C13), Corso, Ferlinghetti, et al. Unmarked copy with significant bumps and some general wear.

Beautiful as-new copy of the fourth issue of this groundbreaking literary and Kabbalistic magazine edited by David Meltzer. Includes Image of the Wall by Wallace Berman, a lengthy 1964 letter from Lenny Bruce to a judge, a number of Kabbalistic pieces from traditional authorities, and other material from writers associated with the Semina scene. Unmarked copy, as new.

Small 8vo. 112pp. Yellow pebbled cloth, a little marked, handled and soiled, lettered and ruled in gold at the upper board and with a small gilt vignette of the sun. Blind rule to the rear board. Some spotting to the endpapers and, lightly, to occasional text leaves. Binding just a little tender in places. A nice bright copy. With the bookplates of noted bibliophile and bibliographic scholar Simon Novel-Smith and his wife Judith Adams. Fifty-one poems. Extremely uncommon..

Printed for the editor at The Curwen Press, London, 1958. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Illustrator(s). 1st Edition. The first edition of this selection, and the first with these magnificent Reynolds Stone engravings. 4to. 94pp. One of 300 copies (out of a total edition of 350) designed by Will Carter, printed on Basingwerk parchment, bound in buckram and signed by Reynolds Stone. Stone contributes a title page decoration, five wood engraved plates and a small closing vignette; plus a small gilt decoration to upper board. Buckram just fractionally marked in one or two places, else a fine copy. No dust wrapper, as issued. Twenty-three poems (including the eleven-parter 'Flying Scrolls'), six of which are hitherto unprinted with several others making their first bookform appearance..

First Edition (first printing) of the author's second book. 8vo. 106pp. Black vertical weave cloth, lettered in gold at the spine and upper board with a blind-stamped border. Portrait frontispiece of the author (from a sketch by Wyndham Lewis). A hint of fading to the backstrip, and just a touch of bruising to the spine ends. Half-title spotted, with a touch of further very light spotting to the title page and two blank rear flyleaves. Very good indeed, albeit lacking the most uncommon dust wrapper. First Edition (first printing), in the first state binding of rainbow-patterned boards with a tanned and slightly chipped paper spine label and the publisher's yellow top edge stain. 8vo. 95pp. A presentation copy, fondly inscribed by the author to fellow poet and Newdigate Prize winner David Posner, dated May 1943 and with two inked lines of verse beneath and Posner's signature in pencil above. Some occasional light pencilled marginalia and some notes to the front free endpaper, probably in Julian Symons' hand but possibly also in Posner's. Laid-in is a folded two-sided handwritten letter from Ransom to Julian Symons concerning an article on Restoration comedy which was to appear in the Ransom-edited journal 'The Kenyon Review'.
