About This Item
Melbourne: Australian Scholarly Publishing, 2007. 1st Edition. Soft Cover. Fine. 145 x 210 mm, 228 pp. Soft Cover, page edges age-toned, in all other respects Fine - appearing unread. A very nice copy. While the redoubtable Bob Menzies carried the flame nationally, it was left to two knockabout leaders with more than a touch of the Australian larrikin, Henry Bolte in Victoria and Bob Askin in New South Wales, to revive the Liberals' fortunes in the two largest states. Neither was a typical conservative ... Bolte and Askin ... took conservative politics from the saloon bar into the public bar, and it was their efforts , just as much as Menzies', that saw the high watermark for the Liberal Party.'
