About This Item

Leçons de clinique chirurgicale professes à l'Hôpital des cliniques . . . recueillies, rédigées et publiées par Emmanuel Bourdon . . . revues par le professeur. vi, 742pp. Plate. Paris: V. Adrien Delehaye et Cie., 1876. 222 x 141 mm. 19th-century quarter morocco, marbled boards, spine a bit rubbed. Minor foxing and toning but very good. Presentation Copy, inscribed to Ricord on the title: "A mon illustre maître le Dr. Ricord hommage de respectueux dévouement L Labbé."
First Edition. Labbé was a surgeon at the Midi and several other Paris hospitals. His name is associated with Labbé's triangle—the zone of the anterior abdominal wall corresponding to the anterior face of the undistended stomach—and Labbé's operation for gastrostomy by incision of the chest wall along the lower edge of the last left rib. He and Guyon developed pre-anesthetic medication; see Garrison-Morton.com 5670.
