About This Item
First edition hardcover with dust jacket, published by Houghton Mifflin, 1982. 322 pages with Index and Sources. Lottman reviews the influence of The Left Bank on writers and artists, such as Max Ernst, Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, Jean Cassou, Andre Chamson, Paul Eluard, Andre Gide, Maxim Gorki, Jean Guehenno, Ernest Hemingway, Andre Malraux, and many more. The author also provides detailed descriptions of the area, it's streets, squares, cafes, and salons. The dust jacket is intact, is not price clipped, it has been protected with a clear, library quality, removable cover. Some light edge wear to the head of the spine area of the dust jacket. The sewn binding is tight and square. Very little edge wear to the cover boards, the corners are not bumped or worn. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
